Went back up to Hakuba again on Sunday. This time it was nice not to have to dodge the rocks on piste the place was packed so it was all about dodging people. Surprisingly though the lift lines were short & never waited more than 5 minutes & normally straight on.
I've been listening to the Hottest 100 in between lessons. Only a few more to go. Who will be number 1?

Started work late on Monday so snuck in a morning of snowboarding. It was another beautiful sunny day & we headed to Shirakabako (Lake Shirakabako) & tried out Royal Hill ski resort.
The mass of white behind the cars & building is the frozen lake. It's only a few minutes walk (up hill) to the chairlift from here/
Sometimes a self portrait doesn't quite capture the shot you want... But if you look hard you might see the amazing view we had from the top.
Today the slopes were almost empty. Hopefully starting late on a Monday will last until May. Sugoi yo!
Went back to 2 in 1 today for a full day of snowboarding... I figure the jumps are beyond me but I had been eyeing off the table top/bench thing in the playground area.... so I plucked up the courage & was amazed that it was not so difficult. I rode it successfully three times & on the last run of the day I thought I'd give it one more go - yes I was feeling mildly confident by now.
Well I wish I could have seen myself, because it was hilarious from my position, managed to go sideways then flip then rode the table top on my stomach & exited oh so not gracefully, but I did manage to roll onto my board & keep going. The whole time I was in hysterics & it didn't hurt one bit.
I was so excited this morning when I opened my curtains to see it was raining.... Last night's weather forecast showed snow all through the night & I was dreading having to shovel it this morning, but (to the tune of Incy Wincy Spider if you will) down came the rain & washed the snow away... Hooray!!!
On this sunny Sunday, Gemma & I headed for a day on the mountain at Shirakaba 2 in 1, a local resort less than an hour away. It was a beautiful day & the views were amazing. (click photos to enlarge)
Not long after this photo was taken, Gemma fell (2nd run) & sprained her thumb. Poor Gemma. Good news was they gave her a full refund on her ticket & she's on the mend now & keen to head up again this wekeend.
It's going to be a high of 2 degrees today & a high of zero tomorrow. Does anyone know at what temperature washing freezes?
so I found the problem... it appears it's my firewall... who would have thought I used to know something about computer networks... I haven't actually fixed it yet but disabling the firewall has worked for now ^o^

I still can't work out what the problem with uploading photos to my blog is... will keep trying.... I have some before & after shots of me digging my car & driveway out from under a long weekend of snow... it's hard work!
It took about 90 minutes to shovel clear & was quite possibly the hardest physical work I have ever done.
