Another weekend in Nozawa Onsen

Went back to Nozawa Onsen last weekend. Got up early-ish & drove up Saturday morning. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining & the views from everywhere on the mountain were amazing - unfortunately I left my camera at home!

Looking over the over alps toward the horizon the blue looked liked the ocean rather than the sky, mist, cloud or whatever that blue was below the mountain tops! After a great day of riding in the sunshine I soaked my weary muscles in one of the free onsens around town.

Sunday it was raining early on then it changed to snow then to fog. For a while you couldn't see more than a metre ahead & it was impossible to determine where the piste went except for the boundary markers. I let gravity direct me down hill & got stuck more once when a flat bit came with no visual warning. It was a relief to make it to the chair & see tha tit was still operating!

Stayed at the same place as last time Lodge Nagano & looked after by the lovely Kim & Luke. Also had a fun night out on Saturday which ensured a hangover for Sunday's activities. All in all a fun weekend.

The only annoying thing is the cost of the freeway, from Okaya to the exit near Nozawa Onsen is about 110km in total on the expressway & it costs 2,400 yen which is a little under $30 - ouch!
